Relaxation and Addiction recovery

When we enter into restoration, we enter into a time in our lives where we are healing from the effects of an obsession with drugs or alcohol. Early recovery is where we learn to recover and learn to determine a new and healthy lifestyle that will support recovery throughout the rest of our lives. Recovery from addiction is just a life-long and life changing process. Restoration isn’t the conclusion line, it is a journey. In early recovery, you were taught many things to assist them on the journey. Some of the tools presented are necessary, and some are optional.

A lot of people don’t realize that relapse is an important risk in early recovery. Relapse is a slip in sobriety or clean time after a deliberate period of abstinence from drugs and/or alcohol. Relapse can be described as a strike to recovery, or it can be the beginning of a complete backward slide. In any event, it is dangerous. For this reason it’s essential to work to prevent relapse as best we can, through application of varied practices and practices to help us control any urges we may need to use or drink again.

In recovery, we have to learn to deal with emotions and stress which could cause us to want to drink or use drugs again. We also have to figure out how to cope with those tendencies if they do show up. One of the simplest techniques that’s motivated to ease anxiety and maybe not give into any urges that prompt relapse is meditation.

Meditation and addiction recovery go together. We’re taught that in addiction recovery, we’ve to learn to relieve stress and want to self-medicate and to calm our minds on an everyday basis as to not become overwhelmed or to relieve stress with other substances. Meditation allows us to clear our minds and to rest in a healthy and simple way, one which is found to be helpful not only to spirits and psyche, but in addition to our feelings.

Addiction recovery and meditation are usually paired together by experts because meditation allows us to escape and to calm whenever we are feeling those relapse urges, and then manage to get back to reality relieved and more balanced without giving into those urges.

Those that practice meditation in addiction recovery discover the benefits to grow beyond only addiction recovery and to benefit life also. Meditation is a simple and healthier practice that is always encouraged to balance our thoughts and our spirits on our travels in life.
